The company OpenAI has recently decided to temporarily halt the use of the digital voice « Sky » on its ChatGPT service, following allegations made by the actress Scarlett Johansson. She claims that her voice has been replicated without her knowledge by the AI.

In response to the criticism, OpenAI stated that they were taking into consideration the concerns regarding the choice of voices used. The company explained that the voice of « Sky » was not an imitation of Scarlett Johansson, but had been developed based on several different actresses. Nevertheless, they decided to temporarily suspend the use of this voice while waiting to clarify the situation.

Scarlett Johansson testified that she had declined an offer from Sam Altman, co-founder of OpenAI, to lend her voice to ChatGPT 4.0. She was shocked and angered upon discovering the striking similarity between her voice and that of « Sky ». The situation led the actress to seek legal counsel to resolve the dispute with OpenAI.
